Venture Avenue: Money Management Intensive Weeklong Course for Teens featuring Fortune Avenue (Delorme-Metayer) All Classes

Though they go through years of math in school, many teens graduate without a solid sense of what it means to manage their money. Fortune Avenue, a teen-led and teen-run nonprofit organization based in Boston, formed an initiative to address some of these underdeveloped life skills.

In this series of four workshops, teens will learn a host of in-depth skills in money management–from earning to saving, loans, credit, and investment–all under the lens of becoming self-made entrepreneurs. Through a series of hands-on activities and active mentorship from experienced Fortune Avenue teen staff, teens will emerge more ready to hurdle the financial pitfalls that plague so many young adults. Lunch will be served on each session day as well, to make sure there’s adequate brain fuel to process all this new, exciting information.

Join the “Voices of the Lower Neponset River” Senior Capstone Exhibit Reception (Bowles) Al Classes

The Lower Neponset River, flowing through Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park, and Milton, was designated an EPA Superfund Site in 2022. Decades of industrial activity left toxic chemicals behind, affecting communities along its banks. Yet, the river often goes unseen. Boston Latin School senior Lucy Zhang created the exhibit “Voices of the Lower Neponset River” to change that as her Senior Capstone project. Using watercolor portraits and interviews, Lucy highlighted 14 local advocates working to protect the river and support their neighborhoods.

Lucy is hosting an opening reception for her exhibit on Monday April 13th from 6-8 PM. The event will take place at the Keys Community Room in Milton Public Library. Register here to attend:
