Recycling Final Cleanout (Foulis) All Classes

As the school year comes to a close, the BLS Recycling Committee will host the Final Clean Out for 2026, a two-day volunteer opportunity dedicated to helping recycle and sort the school’s recyclable waste before summer begins. It will take place on June 22 and June 25!

Students who participate will be excused from class and receive 3 hours of community service per day. You may sign up for one day or both days, but please complete the sign-up form if you plan to attend. There will also be ice cream and other treats available for volunteers at the end of each day!

Additionally, we are looking for a small group of Transporter/Elevator Volunteers to help move recycling bins between floors and the dining hall. These volunteers will receive first access to ice cream and treats at the end of the event.

Come to GSA’s Pride Festival! (Murray) All Classes

HAPPY PRIDE!!! GSA will be hosting the post-finals Pride Festival on Thursday, June 18, outside on the back lawn! Stop by to relax, hang out, and join the many activities we have planned, face painting and the varieties of food we will be offering, including lemonade, baked goods and more!

We will also be tie-dying t-shirts to celebrate! Shirts will be available to purchase on-site and we will be selling some of our other GSA merch, including t-shirts and tote bags!

As the school year comes to a close, BLS UNICEF is opening officer applications for the 2026-2027 school year. We work to raise awareness about humanitarian crises affecting children around the world while promoting advocacy, education, and service within the BLS community.

Fall Sports Preseason Meeting (Owens) All Classes

The annual mandatory fall preseason meeting will take place on Thursday, June 11. Students will meet in the auditorium at 2:30 to hear a presentation from Athletic Director Owens. Then they will proceed to team meetings at 3 PM hosted by the coaches. This meeting is required for all prospective candidates for a fall sport at BLS.

BLS Service Outreach & Connection Officer Applications (Scott) Class V, IV, III

As the school year comes to a close, BLS Service Outreach & Connection is opening officer applications for the 2026-2027 board. BLS SOC aims to help break information barriers and serve underrepresented communities by promoting equal education. We’ve hosted annual book drives, organized a Career Fair collaborating with organizations such as the City of Boston Planning Dept, and much more. We are offering two positions: treasurer and liaison.

BLS Summer Reading 2026 (Thompson/Safran) All Classes

All English courses with the exception of electives (AP Language and Composition, Creative Writing, and Humanities) carry a summer reading requirement. Students should check the information by grade level on the Summer Reading 2026 Lib Guide for required reading titles and information about access to the eBooks.

A limited number of print copies of the summer reading and all Junior Research Paper (JRP) books are on display in the Keefe Library. Students are permitted to check out these books for the entire summer. Rising juniors are permitted to take two JRP books.

BLS Environmental Summit Event (Fogel, Foulis, Harris) All Classes-Updated

Why don’t oceans ever take breaks?

Because they always have too many current events to deal with.

It’s time to ride the tides for a change. This Thursday 6/4 at 2:30 PM in the dining hall, the BLS Recycling Committee, Composting, YouthCAN, and Galleries for Change will be hosting an environmental summit on marine biology and the cost of polluting the ocean, involving club workshops and an environmental chemist and microbiologist guest speaker Karen Murray. In addition, BLS Recycling Committee will be doing a bake sale at the door to help fundraise for this event! The first 5 people to complete the workshops will be granted a free item from the bake sale, and attending the event will grant you 2 community service hours. Refreshments will be provided.

BLS TAG’s FAMOUS Annual Carne Asada (6/4) (Jacobson-Peregrino) All Classes

Right after school on June 4th at 2:15, TAG is hosting an event to bring the BLS community together through food and drinks on the back lawn!! Tickets will be $7 beforehand and $9 at the door. There will also be games for you to enjoy after finishing your plate. Activities like soccer, football, etc. will get you hungry for more!!

Extracurricular choir auditions begin this coming Monday, June 1. Please see dates and descriptions below and reach out to Mr Snyder or Ms Lewis Bradford with any questions.

Chamber Choir Audition:

Monday, June 1, 2:30 PM, Choir Room Eligible: Current grades 7-11, should be enrolled in a curricular ensemble (choir, orchestra, band) Description: Chamber Choir performs more challenging music with greater independence of parts. Rehearsals are for two hours on Mondays from 2:30 – 4:30. Performances occur at the BLS Winter Concert and Music Night and as opportunities arise. Auditionees should be prepared to sing a short (20-30 seconds) solo that represents their voice well and learn a piece with other auditionees and current members.

Gospel Choir Audition:

Tuesday, June 2, 2:30 PM, Choir Room Eligible: Current grades 7-11 Description: The BLS Gospel Choir strives to bring passion, fire, conviction, and contagious energy to every performance! Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 2:30-4:30. Performances occur at the BLS Winter Concert, MLK Day of Celebration, Music Night, the MICCA festival, and other opportunities as they arise.

Thursday, June 4, 2:30 PM, Choir Room Eligible: Current grades 7-11, should be enrolled in a curricular ensemble (choir, orchestra, band) Description: Rehearsals are for two hours on Thursdays from 2:30 – 4:30. History Teachers vs Students Competition – Boston Latin School Service Collective (Fogel) All Classes-Updated

On Tuesday June 2nd, the Boston Latin School Service Collective will be holding a history teacher trivia tournament fundraiser in the Seevak room. The topics will be general history, and will include a team composed of seasoned history and classics teachers and a team composed of BLS students, most of which are experienced history bowl players. Admission is free for spectators.
