On Tuesday, March 8th, Facing History students and Topol Fellows heard directly from Ukrainian students and teachers (via Zoom) who are currently undergoing attacks on their homes and livelihoods from the Russian military. From this session, our Ukrainian peers expressed the bleak realities of their circumstances, the fear of living through a war, and ways in which we, as Americans, are able to help.
As we bear witness to the injuries, displacements, deaths, and persecution of innocent Ukrainian civilians, it is imperative that we use what resources we have to protect and save the lives of others. The Topol Fellows seek to work with a group of interested students and student organizations to raise funds for a bulk purchase of resources SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED BY THOSE WE SPOKE TO since their community is entirely drained of these essential supplies.
The need for these supplies is urgent. Boston Latin School is a community of caring individuals and responsible citizens, and we hope to collaborate to obtain the resources the Ukrainians need.
Watch these Daily Bulletin announcements for further details on how you can participate in this effort and donate to this cause. Details will follow!
Additionally, there will be a Zoom session to discuss plans and organize a fundraiser for this on Friday, March 11 at 4 pm. If you would like to participate, please use this link.
