Due to lack of awareness about depression and other mental illnesses, many people deny that their family members suffer from depression, refusing to accept medication and professional treatment. Instead, they choose to ignore the issue or show “tough love,” which ultimately leads to tragedy.
The new documentary “Stories That Save Lives,” produced by award-winning documentary director Professor Chuangfu Chang, tells the real experience of how two families who have fallen into the abyss of depression emerged from its depths.
Please join United Chinese Americans WAVES and their partners for a panel discussion, during which a 12-minute clip of the film will be shown, followed by discussion with the featured family members, the filmmaker, and a psychiatrist. See flyer for more details.
