Hello Boston Latin Students!

Thank you so much for your interest in participating in the writing series with Writing in Color at Boston Latin School! Writing in Color is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses the craft of writing to create a safe space for students of color to understand the value and uniqueness of their personal identity.

Our Goals:

Teach students to understand the mechanics of writing Help craft an essay that can be used for college applications Offer students an authentic look into the life and process of a writer of color Facilitate conversations around complex topics, such as voice and identity

Benefits:

Tour of the Boston Globe at the end of the series In-person reading and reception of your essay Being able to connect and network with local authors of color Letter of recommendation to be used for college application

Session Dates:

  • October 14th, 2025 2:30-4 pm – Session 1: How to identify your story*
  • January 12th 2026 2:30-4 pm – Session 2: How to craft an essay*
  • March 16th, 2026 2:30-4 pm – Session 3: Fine-tuning edits*
  • Boston Globe (TBD)

Reading and Reception (TBD)

*Sessions 1-3 will be a 45-minute fireside chat at BLS with a local writer of color, followed by a 45-minute writing workshop to help you work on your final essay.
