The 4th annual MOTH story day at Boston Latin School, organized by Boston Latin’s Topol Fellows in Peace and Non-Violence, will feature students and faculty presenting 10 to 15 minute stories in a day-long series of sessions (spread over two days due to our current hybrid schedule): Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13.
MOTH stories originated in 1997, first as local live events, then as a radio program and podcast and now as events all over the world. Over 25,000 Moth stories have been recorded to date. All stories are true, as seen from the perspective of the storyteller, and are delivered mostly extemporaneously for approximately ten minutes each.
Given the sensitive and upsetting nature of several of the stories, we have decided that it is prudent to open this event to class I, II, III, and IV students only. This is the first time several of the speakers have told their stories in a public setting, so we ask that students be respectful of the speakers and their topics and show their support. And a note: there are a few presentations spread among the various MOTH sessions that require trigger warnings, due to references to death, depression, drinking and/or drugs, eating disorders, hospitalizations, mental health struggles, physical injury, suicidal thoughts, sexual assault, torture, or violence. A trigger warning will be announced at the start of each session.
Sign ups during class sessions will be done by classroom teachers. If you have a free period, you can sign up for yourself. Please use this SignUp Genius
