The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Biostatistics Department is excited to host StatStart virtually this year (free). StatStart is a month-long summer program and priority is given to first-generation or low-income students high school students. Students participating in the program will receive an introduction to statistics, data science, and computing and will have the opportunity to analyze real-world data by working in group projects led by a graduate student mentor. We will host the program from July 1st to July 25th, Monday to Thursday from 10 AM – 2 PM EST. Classes will be taught at the School of Public Health by Biostats PhD students who, in addition to sharing their statistical expertise, will provide mentorship and college preparatory skills. The program will conclude with student presentations on Friday, July 26th. The only requirement to apply is a solid grasp of freshmen-level algebra. The application for StatStart is now live and due on Friday, May 24, 2024.
