This weekend, the Bridge Building Club sent three teams to the 33rd Annual BSECS Model Bridge Contest at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Bridges are tested with increasing amounts of weight until they can no longer support the load. Trophies are awarded for Bridge Efficiency (total weight it can hold divided by the weight of the bridge) and Bridge Aesthetics (how visually pleasing the bridge is). The teams were:
Team Soh-Cah-Toa (Xintong Guo & Susie Chahwan)
Team Curly Fry (Alex Jaffe & Quyen Vo)
Team My Spine (Tim Nguyen & Phineas Scovel)
These teams worked hard over the past couple of months planning and then building their bridges (this year’s designated material was cardboard.) All of the teams performed well, and Team My Spine came away with 2nd Place for Bridge Efficiency AND 2nd Place for Bridge Aesthetics!
