Denuclearization Film Screening and Conversation with Dr. Ira Helfand (Freeman) All Classes

On Tuesday, March 29th @ 2:30 pm, there will be a film screening of The War Game (1966), a “docu-drama” (showing fictionalized events but simulating a hypothetical scenario) depicting what would happen in a nuclear war and the impacts it would trigger. The BBC originally censored the film after they deemed it “too horrifying for the medium of broadcast” and likely to radicalize the public against nuclear weapons.

Ira Helfand (co-president of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War and recipient of the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize on their behalf) will be speaking. You may remember hearing him speak R1 on Human Rights Day. Dr. Helfand will be answering any questions about the current threat of nuclear war, as well as the current relevance to the war in Ukraine.

To learn and join the conversation, come to the Seevak Room on March 29th, at 2:30 pm!
