The John F. Kennedy Library has announced its annual Profiles in Courage essay contest for high school students. This year’s topic: Describe and analyze an act of political courage by a US elected official who served during or after 1917, the year of JFK’s birth. Cash awards are given to the top 25 essays, with a first-place prize of $10,000. Students submitting essays must be sponsored by a teacher, but the essay does not need to be a class assignment.
