2024 BLS BLACK and TAG Celebratory (Pinchem, Metayer, Jacobson-Peregrino) All Classes

Dear BLS students,

You are cordially invited to the 9th Annual BLS BLACK and TAG Celebratory on Sunday, June 9 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. This celebration is a time-honored tradition at BLS that dates back to the 1970s. The first BLS celebration of this kind was held at St. Cyprian’s Church in Roxbury. From there it moved to Simmons College and then to the historic Harriet Tubman House. This year, it will take place in the Fiction Room of the BLS Library.

This event is hosted by BLS B.L.A.C.K. (Black Leaders Aspiring for Change and Knowledge) and BLS T.A.G (Talented and Gifted Latino) and is open to everyone. During this event, members of the BLS family, including faculty, staff, alumni, and current students, will recognize and celebrate the collective achievements of members of the Class of 2024 who identify as Black and Latinx. You do not have to identify as a member of one or both of these groups to attend the celebratory. All are welcome!

The program will include amazing guest speakers, great music, inspiring words of wisdom, and light refreshments. During the celebration, the graduating seniors who completed the form will also receive their kente and/or serape stoles to wear on graduation day! This will be the only time for seniors who ordered them in advance through the BLSA donation to pick up their stoles.

If you would like to attend, complete this Google form by Friday, June 7 so that we can have an accurate headcount. Upon arrival, graduating seniors and their guests will use the ceremonial entrance of the school. Guests needing special accommodations will be able to use the entrance by the dining hall. Seniors should arrive by 2:30 PM and report directly to the Memorabilia Room. All guests will proceed directly to the Fiction Room. The program will start promptly at 3:00 PM.

Time: 3:00 – 5:00 PM Recommended Dress Code: Cultural attire or Sunday chic
